A the private commission for the screen print collective. As with all of these I wanted a fun twist and concept behind the piece. For Tremors, I thought about how I could interoperate this differently. I've always seen Tremors as a Western horror, so I thought it would be a fun idea to interpret Tremors in a classic 60s/70s Western film poster style, and who better to look to than the king of Western art and film posters Frank McCarthy.
His work is frequently distinguished by a dramatic angle-framed scene with the figures halted in mid-action. So I wanted to create something that embodied his style, from the framing to the color palette, the vast rolling clouds over a greenish-hued sky, even the technique of his dust and dirt, the stances of the character's poses, and the heavy brush mark painting technique.
