Miami Connection (1987) Vinegar Syndrome 4K release. This was always one I was sad I never got to tackle on it’s original release, so I was excited (and little nervous) to tackle it at long last, knowing it’s such a cult classic now! This one was a lot of work, but i think it all came together to create something akin to classic 80s VHS box art and different to what has already been put out for this one before.
I chose to create something very 80s VHS box art style, an OOT idealised version of the action, quite glamorous and polished, particularly with my depiction of the main cast, and to that end i looked towards the style of the box art gods… Renato Casaro and Enzo Sciotti, they really where the masters of this stuff. Nothing summed up European video box art like their pieces, particularly on the Medusa label in the UK and many many amazing German VHS covers. So it really was going to be an explosion of cool action, meets music, meets ninjas! Having already visited a similar area and style with NY Ninja i had to be careful not to run so close so the use of Magenta was vetoed sadly which is a tough one as its very much a colour everyone connects with this type of style now, so i went with blue tones more on this one.
