Haus der Verfluchten’ aka ‘Seven Hyde Park’ (1985). Due to the nature of this title and its dvd release i was able to get a bit more flamboyant with the content and conjure up this gillo abstract design. Very much in keeping with the genres classic art style.

I wanted to centre the design around a large knife and a screaming woman for the story so i was composing the layout around making that work in the composition best, the woman was the main emotional focus though and as this was a latter 80s gaillo releases, i was able to add a dash of 80s styling to her. Then the killer holding the knife coming out of the dark night sporting those lovely iconic gaillo black leather gloves, i love the way you can get the highlights gleam off the black leather of gloves like this.
Obviously as the title has ‘house’ in it i felt you needed to throw one in there for people to visually reference. so it was to be a classic iconic house styling for people to recognise in this setting rather than the actual more modern house of the film.

With most of the design being dark black and blues i needed some real punchy colour to contrast against the rest of this and jump off of the page, so the centred red for the title treatment and framing the woman in the dripping red blood really added that punch.

Finally for the Entertainment 84 release i set out the artwork in a classic VHS style cover template.
