During a weekend cabin trip to sort out wedding plans, Steve becomes infected by the zombie virus and Tries to battle his overwhelming desire for brains!

This was the first design i worked on for a comedy and to make the poster visually fun, we decided to go for the classic fantasy art style inspired by the work of artists like Frank Frazetta, blending Boris Vallejo’s (National Lampoons Vacation) with John Bolton (Army of Darkness) to create something epic and completely outlandish for the
subject matter.

The humour came out in depicting Steve (zombie) completely against character as a totally ripped heroic zombie groom holding his ample-busted perma-tanned bride in one hand while thrusting the BRAINSSSSS aloft but contrasting those cliches with a expression that screams PANIC I’M A MILD MANNERED HR MANAGER NOT A ZOMBIE. Tina the bride is actually more in control as the pushy bride in the film.
I was then also able to bringing out the rest of the characters personalities so we see Sarah the sister (bottom right) not amused by the whole situation, Craig best friend (bottom left) beer drinking frat boy, Penelope (top left) preppy zombie hunter and Max (top right) bad tempered zombie hunter, I’m a massive Stephen McHattie fan so it was a joy to be able to paint him (i loved Pontypool and Casey actually got me a signed copy of the film for working on the poster!).

The background elements really help set the tone by allowing the viewer to build up an impression of the story without being too busy so allowing the main focus to stay on the characters.

On title design I had been been dying to create a big logo set in cracked stone and this was the opportunity for it.
